Scott Darin Hedrick,
a native of Rantoul Illinois, son of Martin and Lola Hedrick, graduated in 1988 from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Computer Science. He played Alto Saxophone
for several University symphonic bands as well as the Marching Illini. He served as the Saxophone Section Leader for
the Marching Illini Saxophone section for two years. In addition to Alto Saxophone, he played Bass Clarinet in the University
Symphonic band under the direction of Dr. James Curnow and played in the Clarinet Choir under the direction of
Harvey Hermann. He also played bass guitar for the University's basketball pep band as well as many small theater company productions.
After graduating from college, Scott served in the United States Navy as an Unrestricted Line
Officer for 8 years and played bass guitar for the band while serving on USS Enterprise which included many performances
overseas including a performance for the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro.
After leaving active duty in 1992, he played bass guitar for many diverse punk/rock bands. Buttsteak was the
name of his first major band. Buttsteak was a popular punk rock band based in Norfolk Virginia and played all over the east
coast and midwest as well as touring England and recording songs for John Peel's BBC radio-1 show. Scott left Norfolk for Chicago and
joined up with his friend Tony Rogers to play bass guitar for the band The Good.
After leaving Chicago, he ended up in San Francisco and ultimately Sacramento and in January 2006 joined
the Sacramento Symphonic Winds. Aside from Scott's musical hobbies, he currently works in the Law Firm industry as a
computer programmer, network engineer and systems designer. Another hobby of Scott's is web design and in 2006 he took on the role of
redesigning and maintaining the Sacramento Symphonic Winds' web site.
