George learned chords when he got a ukulele for his seventh birthday, and has been playing in school and community bands, orchestras, and small ensembles ever since. At various times he has played violin, guitar, tympani, French horn, euphonium, tuba, piano, and organ, as well as sung in college glee clubs and church choirs. George has been an active member of the River City Concert Band and the Sacramento Symphonic Winds since 2002, and is a founding member of the Heavy Metal and Golden Tuba Four tuba quartets, Ragtime Rascals Rampage, and the Raspberry Jam Band. Dr. Preston is a retired PhD chemical engineer, energy R&D executive, and candy manufacturer. A Californian since 1960, he has two adult sons and lives in Auburn with his musician wife Mary Rose, two cats and numerous turtles.
